The Original Post

Back in the fall of 2005, I began the journey of blogging about nonviolence, peace, and civil rights.  That journey continues as I still write and ponder what nonviolence means, how to live nonviolently, and how to create a world that lives the principles that come with the philosophy of nonviolence.  My original blog was first call, “replace the lies with truth” and kept that name until my own thinking evolved on this idea that anyone really has the truth or that one person’s truth will also be someone else’s truth.  I later changed the name of the blog to simply, Speak Compassion.   If you read in order staring back in the fall of 2005, you can see and watch the evolution of my own understanding, growth, and personal practice of nonviolence.

The blog started log before I had learned about Marshall Rosenberg or many of the wonderful communication, conflict resolution, and peace makers of the world.  It was also before I was trained in mediation or ever dreamed I would work in this field.   It is fun to look back at older posts and compare them to newer posts.  My language changed, I stopped judging, and blaming others.  I found compassion for those I might not have bothered to do anything except call them bigots.  Much has evolved since the first days of this blog.

You can read the original blog at Speak Compassion.
