This article only proves that republicans and conservatives only care about w.a.s.p.h. individuals and families. . Here is a snippet of what was posted at one news now.:
The GOP presidential candidate is being taken to task for proposing what critics call a “touchback plan” for illegal aliens wanting to remain in the U.S. Numbers USA, a grassroots immigration reform organization, has been rating the presidential candidates on their immigration records. According to spokesman Michael Crowe, Huckabee has received a poor rating based on several positions he took while governor.
However, Huckabee has discovered that voters want enforcement, which prompted the GOP presidential hopeful to propose a nine-point “Secure America Plan” that includes a requirement that illegal immigrants must return to their own country before applying for legal status. “That’s a touchback amnesty,” explains Crowe, “where [illegals] have to go home for a couple of weeks before they come back. If they go home, they need to get in the back of the [immigration] line.”
The thing that irritates me the most is that conservatives and republicans reach out to the latino community to get their votes and then once in office they use words like “their taking american jobs” “their costing the economy”. In this
article tells a different story.
Agriculture is expected to be among the industries hardest hit by the new law. Yuma needs about 50,000 pickers during lettuce harvest. Only half that number lives on the American side of the border. Pickers now earn 12 to 14 dollars per hour, said Dawn McLaren, an Arizona State University research economist.
Their wages could rise to 20 dollars per hour.
As more and more farms move south of the border to avoid high production costs, food may have to be imported on a weak dollar, making groceries more expensive.
The truth of the matter is even though the U.S. is a western nation the strength of our economy is the fact that we are the only nation in the developed world that doesn’t have to import its food. And the fact that food is a necessity means that if american families have to pay twice as much for food by spending an average of $300 a week verses an average of $150 a week which will leave less money overall for other things. This is the equivalent of a builder trying to fix a house by breaking down the foundation which then ends up destroying the house. This cracking down by the republicans will have a devastating effect on our economy, but they’ll just blame the democrats for screwing up our economy. Conservatives and the republicans may pay lip service to minorities’ by paying tribute to brown v. Board of education and express sorrow at the death of Corretta Scott King, but they betray themselves by committing the exact same sins that the segregationists did by attacking the latino immigrant community. And repeating the same sin in how our nation treated the Irish immigrants escaping the potato famine.

My day job is in advocacy where I work with both dems and republicans. I have to say that being republican doesn’t make you evil. While I am not in favor of the republians, I am also not in favor of over-generalized statements about republicans either. There are some republicans out there working for social services, leading mental health organizations and working for the interests of minorities.

The problem is Joe that the vast majority of Republican candidates are out there demonizing latino immigrants in a very similar way that my irish ancestors were demonized, the only difference is that you don’t have employers with signs say “help wanted latinos need not apply”. And you also have conservatives out their like Michael Savage, Don Wildmon, and Ann Coulter mercilessly attacking latino immigrants. These people are scared, scared that the white majority will become a minority.

I agree, so where is the comapassion that addresses their fears? When I read your article I felt almost frightened. I value addressing fear with compassion. WOuld you be willing to tell me, for the sake of humoring me, what your article would look like if you re-wrote it from a place of compassion for their fear the white majority will become the minority. No one likes being afraid, it is a terrible feeling. I only wish to empathize with the fear while pointing out the damage the fear is causing all invovled.

What I would say is that if conservatives and republicans trully honor martin luther king J.R.’s legacy then why are they attacking minorities like the latino immigrant community just like the racists of Martin’s day attacked the black community, and the people who attacked the Irish immigrating here to escape the potato famine.

You already answered your own question:
In comment 4 you said: why are they attacking minorities like the latino immigrant community just like the racists
You answered that question in comment 2:These people are scared, scared that the white majority will become a minority.
People do crazt things when they are afraid. As the famous line goes….we have nothing to fear but…..
