Peter La Barbera on Faith2Action’s radio show with Janet Folger.

by @ 9:19 pm. Filed under Americans For Truth, Gay News, Hate Crimes, Nonviolence, hate speech

Faith 2 Action, a group led by Janet Folger recently had Peter La Barbera on her radio show entitled, Faith2action.   This group is making a blantent call to Christians to go against their faith’s message of nonviolence and calls them to fight in the cultural war rather than do the right thing.

To start with the host of the show Janet Folger is planning to launch a new website against hate crime laws called http://www.stophatecrimesnow.com/. The site will be dedicated to stopping hate crime laws from protecting gays and lesbians.  No words on whether the site will stop hate crime protections for christians.  I will be watching to see the day the site goes up and keep you posted.

In the second half of the show, Janet had long time activist, Peter La Barbera from Americans for Truth on the show.  Here us my sum up of the show:

While I do think it is important to find a solution to these conflicts, I do not believe that Peter La Barbera or Janet Folger are heading in the right direction.   They are demanding the country be there’s with no place for gay people.   That isn’t freedom it is fear.  I will not live in fear, but I also refuse to spread it.

Peter and Janet are wounded souls with anger and hate taking all their energy.   I feel sorry for them.   Peter needs to tell us exactly where are our rights?   Will they give us good soup in the camps before they gas us?

Joe I have to say that peter’s obsession over all things gay, makes me suspect that he himself is a homosexual. I was the exact same way when I was in the closet. I would bash gay people and tell them they are evil. So his extreme homohatred which is worse than any other so-called “pro-family” leader. James Dobson and Don Wildmon and even Lou Sheldon don’t have this extreme hatred, and that is saying something. His tactics are no better than Fred Phelps. He is not even tactful in his criticism, like the others are, he is just plain mean like cat killer Phelps. At least Phelps has an excuse for his abusive language, he is only anti-gay because he was dis-barred before that he was a civil-rights attorney. He just blames us for him getting disbarred instead of himself.

Then why don’t he and Janet move to Iran, or some other Arab state where the laws they love so much against gays, are enforced in the way they like.

They should have been proud of the public hanging of two gay teens after more than a year of jail. The imprisonment and death sentence was carried out on the flimsiest of accusations and no evidence.

Much like the storied history of lynchings of black men on only the word of a white person that that black man in some way, committed a sexual offense on a white woman.
    You know…like looking at her.

What another does, when it costs another human being something far more urgent and real than a fantasy, that’s how we know that Janet and Peter’s world is fantasy.
But the reality for gay youngsters, is anything from lonely isolation (even in their own family) to death by homicide or suicide.
This is more acceptable to them, than the unreality of what they say, and what the Bible means.
Let alone what the Bill of Rights and Constitution clearly state.

Gay folks don’t exist at the expense of anyone and equal treatment under the law isn’t at the expense of another’s freedoms and treatment.

Equality is at the expense of Janet and Peter’s FANTASY and a morally wise person would know that.
A person who cannot see that gay people are not being treated the same, nor are they treating people like Janet and Peter badly, on any level, would they understand our place as citizens together.

But Janet and Peter are not wise. They are proud, foolish and cowardly.
They are ironic and bad teachers.
Delusion is a hard thing to pass on. So is obsession and preoccupation with fantasy.
Janet and Peter forget that gays and lesbians owe nothing to them. Cannot defer to them, and have no reason to.
Deference to God, is between the individual and their choice, and Janet and Peter cannot force deference to their belief and call it something else and blame it on gay people.

I took this quote from Wayne Besen’s site.
It’s from Dickens, as Ebenezer Scrooge inquires of the Spirit of the Present, why he’s not invested in restraining or punishing individuals who make merry in whatever way they choose.
Why aren’t the Spirit’s many brothers and sisters interested in enforcing the Sabbath?

The answer: “There are some upon this Earth of yours, who lay claim to know us”, the Spirit returned.
“And they do their deeds of passion, pride, ill will, hatred, envy, bigotry, and selfishness in our name. Who are as strange to us and all our kith and kin, as if they never lived. Remember that, and charge their doings on themselves, not us.”

    Exactly.
Janet and Peter and all the rest lay claims they are not entitled to, and resort to words, deeds and tactics that are low and dishonest and DO rely on fear and ignorance to achieve their aim.
And the consequences too, they are very convinced, will never touch them.

They do not ‘work’, they do not ’sacrifice’.
The sacrifice at all times is to be gay people alone.
And with that, the sacrifice of the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, AND the basic tenets of Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Abraham…and all their brothers and sisters.

In their fantasy, they also lay claims to the protections said documents provide as they want them withheld from someone else.

Would they realize the preciousness of this freedom, unless and until they were somewhere where reality would rule their days, and not fantasy?

In Saudi Arabia, or Iran…or China…as Christians, they would be subject to the punishments, restrictions and isolations that gay people feel.
Except it would be against their chosen lifestyle and behavior.
Even with the choice, note…Janet and Peter will not live in those places to test their moral will, values and commitment to truth.

No, they will stay where they will be untested.
And given their so called ‘fight’… they should.

  3. CPT_Doom Says:

Peter States “You cannot have homosexual rights because you are enshrining deviant behavior”…

And heresy is not considered deviant? What about adultery, or fornication? Yet the laws the restrict employer choices, e.g., firing someone because they are living in the immoral lifestyle of adultery (like Elizabeth Dole) actually protect Peter’s “right” to practice his deviant religious lifestyle choice.

What Peter and the rest of his buddies seem to forget is that the very same religious-based bigotry (shorthand, my religion says you are immoral, therefore I believe you are deficient as a human or less valuable than someone living “correctly”) can be used against he and his. My Roman Catholic teachers were not exactly supportive of those who were divorced and remarried, or those who lived together before marriage (and remember, by a strict reading of Catholicism, the Bushes are fornicators because they were not married by a Catholic priest), or those who rejected the one true church for one of the many Protestant heresies. The difference between those teachers and Peter is that they never taught me to hate, or repress, or pre-judge those who chose these immoral lifestyles.

I would LOVE to see Peter or his buddies hang outside of gay bars and try to “change” us, I have a feeling they would be laughed off the property (or driven away by sexually suggestive comments) the first night. I remember attending the Philadelphia Phillies “Gay Community Night” two years ago, when reps from Repent America were on hand to unfurl their banners and denounce the gays. Most of us ignored their protest as we entered the stadium, but one flamboyant gay man decided to laugh at the situation by running up to the protesters and thanking them loudly (and very effeminantly, I might add) for showing him the error of his ways. The men visibly jumped when he approached and refused to even touch the man - not exactly Christ-like behavior.

  4. Regan DuCasse Says:

I wish Peter LaB would look around him at the daily six o clock news.
It wouldn’t take much for him to see what real deviant behavior is.
And it’s about how HE TREATS GAY PEOPLE, and how he is being treated BY gay people.
He’s all for enshrining injustice, before equal treatment is realized.
And a person who knew what a moral principle was, would know that.
Only equal treatment, justice and the ability to access the same protections will show us what a deviant is.
It’s a person who has all those things…and still can’t keep from victimizing someone else.
    For starters…
