A thought for Today

by @ 12:03 pm. Filed under Nonviolence

Sadly, Stacy Harp, Guy Adams, and other like minded folks would have you believe that gay and lesbians activist are out to make laws that will silence them.  There is no truth to that.  It is the goal of most gay activist to morally silence them.   They must learn and see for themselves that what they are doing is wrong.   No law we make can change hearts and minds, and to be truly free of the fear we must live our lives with each day, we must change hearts and minds.   If we are going to be able to walk down the street without having to keep one eye looking over our shoulder to be prepared for violence against us, we must stop the source of that violence.   We must demand that this “call to arms” against us be stopped by those who make the call.

We must continue to show the world this injustice.   We must continue to bring statements that invoke violence into the light of the public eye.   I believe the more the public sees just how wrong and immoral these comments about GLBT people are, the sooner people will stop paying them any mind.    Much like Fred Phelps, who although no one likes what he does, no one believes it either.   That is what we must do for people like Stacy, Guy, and Stephen Bennett.   It has nothing to do with passing anti-hate speech laws.   It has to do with creating a new community of people in this country that no longer listen to such lies.   A community of people who see it for what it is, “an immoral call to arms”.

We must never bother to debate our rights with these folks.   We are right.   We must never fight back with them either in word or action, we don’t need to when the arc of the universe will side with us as it always sides with justice, ALWAYS.   Just bring what they are doing into the light of public opinion.   The universe will do the rest.

I leave you with the words of Dr. King from the Letter from a Birmingham Jail:

Like a boil that can never be cured as long as it is covered up but must be opened with all its pus-flowing ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must likewise be exposed, with all of the tension its exposing creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured. …
