The Easter Egg Controversy on STR- Part 2

by @ 7:49 pm. Filed under Gay News

Today’s show, although hopeful of change, makes me feel more skeptical.   Remember that bully in school that beat you up each day, then one day he comes to school and he is so nice to you.   There is that feeling that something is just wrong.    Something just isn’t right.   That is how I feel about today’s Straight Talk Radio.    I find it hard to grasp that man who just a few weeks ago was painting a picture of:

How can the same radio program that did that over that post few months, now say on today’s show:

"Hope you will join in with us tomorrow as we take the first steps at chipping away at the walls that stand between us.  I am not talking about biblical doctrine, I am talking about simple love and respect for one another"

Sorry if I have a hard time believing this one.   The same man who has showed the gay and lesbian community no respect for the entire time he has been on the air, now wants me to believe that he has changed overnight.   He wants me to believe that he is going to show love and respect.   Love and respect means not painting us all as child predators, not painting us all with made up diseases, not claiming that we are out to take over Hollywood.   Love and Respect means apologizing for the damage you have done.  Making reconciliation for your past.    Stephen hasn’t done that.   Why should we believe him now!    He is making a BIG, BIG, BIG claim.   Why should I believe this?   Admittedly, I have taken down the petition.  I have sent him a note telling him how happy I am about this change, but forgive me if after listening to this show everyday for months now, that I am a bit timid of his "Sudden Change".

I sent him an email today, like I have done a bunch of times before.   I gave him me cell phone, my email, my work email.   I have yet to have a response.  I don’t really expect one.   I guess I will watch with hope and let the universe take over.   If this change is real, I guess we will see it in time.

Robyn did a "FAB" job today.   I was a bit upset with a spot about 6 minutes 48 seconds in where Robyn was talking about the fear people have of gays and lesbians, and the whole time there is this halloween music in the background just overpowering her words.   I guess she could still be heard, but I thought that was rude on the producers part whoever that is……

Only time will tell if Stephen and Irene have really changed.  I hope so, I am sad when I know that a radio program goes on the air day after day misrepresenting me and my partner who I love.   As Gandhi said the truth will always come to view.   I know and I believe, Gandhi was right.

Little note to Stephen: (Since I am pretty sure he reads this once in a great while.)  If you really want people to believe you have changed, make ammends.  Apologize for the 6 months of programming hate speech.   Then I will believe and gays will believe you mean the words you say.  If you really want to chip away the wall between us, then you have to acknowledge you have said and done some horrid things to gays.   Then I will believe, but better still, the winds of truth will have blown.   What more could any of us ask for in a day.

I will again add, I have sent Stephen my cell phone number.   I want to chat, do coffee, can always do coffee,  wait…did someone say coffee?.    I would love to know I can stop this crusade.   It takes a great deal of my time, but I am not about to abandon the truth, and allow hate.   I just won’t do it!   I feel the same way about Randy Thomas, Dl Foster, Exodus.  ALL of them.   If they all would do what Stephen has done and I hope Stephen is sincere.   If they would all do it, we would all be so much better off.   Do you know who would really benefit?   The next guy to get his collar bone broken in a gay bashing,   the next guy to wake up after three days with his head looking like a basket ball.  (yes, that was me at one time)   Hate speech has an effect on the lives and well being of others.  That is where the basis of my fight starts.  I want to change this climate where we as gays and lesbians are bashed and hurt by those who were told it is okay to do that by right wing, extremists groups who paint gays as an enemy.  (we all know who I mean).

I guess I should add one more note for Stephen and Irene:  I am a nice guy, if we talk I will not post about it here.   It is between us.  I am more about the change in the world then I am having a blog.   I hope you consider contacting me.  I have sent you the number.   We have much to offer each other.
