The speech in the “Plan for Change” video:
“In the past few weeks, Wall Street’s been rocked as banks closed and markets tumbled. But for many of you – the people I’ve met in town halls, backyards and diners across America – our troubled economy isn’t news. 600,000 Americans have lost their jobs since January. Paychecks are flat and home values are falling. It’s hard to pay for gas and groceries and if you put it on a credit card they’ve probably raised your rates. You’re paying more than ever for health insurance that covers less and less. This isn’t just a string of bad luck. The truth is that while you’ve been living up to your responsibilities Washington has not. That’s why we need change. Real change. This is no ordinary time and it shouldn’t be an ordinary election. But much of this campaign has been consumed by petty attacks and distractions that have nothing to do with you or how we get America back on track. Here’s what I believe we need to do…Bitter bipartisan fights, outdated and outworn ideas of the left and the right, won’t solve the problems we face today. But a new spirit of unity and shared responsibility will.
The “Plan for Change” Video:
This sense of uniting the country is needing and why I am voting for Obama. I like some of McCain’s ideas, but I am tired of a country divided. I want to get past the labels of liberal left and conservative right and get on to united Americans. I fear McCain and especially Palin with her religious extremism will only divide us further. I ask you vote for Change, but I also ask you vote for Unity and McCain had his change to unite us and didn’t!

I like Obama because he is optimistic whereas McCain comes across as cynical and his voice is real annoying. Also I like the fact that he wants to unite america, whereas McCain continues the divide and conquer tactics of the Bush administration. Bush lied when he said in 2001 that he would be a uniter and not a divider, he has done nothing but divide us as a nation. And a house divided against itself cannot stand. I’m afraid if we don’t get a leader who will unite this country I don’t think our democracy could last another 8 years of Bush.

Welcome back into the blogworld! I am happy to hear from you. I also agree with everything you have said.

“Bitter bipartisan fights… won’t solve the problems we face today.”
This is ridiculous. The Republicans clearly want to block any change, they are bitterly opposed to any solutions of the problems we have today. These problems cannot even be addressed without bitter partisan fights.
“But a new spirit of unity and shared responsibility will.”
This is vague bullshit. “Spirit” never solved anything.
Obama has a great line of bullshit, but I don’t see that he can apprehend even the most trivially obvious facts of today’s reality.

I can’t wait to vote for Obama–and I can’t stand the thought of another four years of the Republicans. The meltdown of the economy is enough to remind people about the failed policies of the Bush administration. McCain can only produce more of the same.

What I just don’t understand is how what has happened in the last 8 yrs under the Republican Reign has almost completely been overlooked by so many citizens.
When I hear a woman state that it about time to put a woman in the White House…well maybe, if it’s the right woman supporting the right party.
In the last 8 years we have seen a fiasco at the ballot boxes; the World Trade Center was DECIMATED resulting in the deaths of 3,023 people representing 90 countries…and how many families, relatives and friends suffered as a result of this tyranny; interest rates are rising and people are losing there homes. Just how many business have disappeared during this administration and how many people have lost their jobs during this last 8 yrs. And the school system and our childrens education simply ’sucks’.
And the WAR…marches on.
OMGosh are we ever gluttons for punishment … I think a ‘wake up call’ is way past due, just look at their record … please run the other way.

Sadie,
What would be a wake up call? What would shake things up in the way you believe we need?

Morning Joe, that’s really kinda hard to answer because so far direct attacks on our shores, death and mayhem, unemployment, skyrocketing interest rates and out of control gasoline prices, and an 8 year old war…hasn’t seemed to have stirred enough resentment against the party that was in office when all of this was happening. However, I realize there has always been a separation of the ‘church and state’. But maybe if a gentle nudge came from that direction, a sermon or two from the pulpit on a specified day by pastors nationwide, almost like a march on Washington…maybe that would be what this nations needs. I know the church would probably fear some type of retaliation but this nation is floundering and in real need of guidance and strong leadership, before ‘elections’. We really don’t need another 4 years of the same downward spiral…

It sounds like you feel frustrated because you would like people to open their eyes and “see the light” about all the things happening in our world. Do I have that correct?
